This is it! It's Zombadings! :D

This movie is one of a kind! a great one, indeed.

This movie is about a man named Remington, played by Mart Escudero, who criticizes gays ever since he was a child. Then suddenly, a gay cursed him that when he grows old, he would be a gay which actually happened . The twist in the story is that Remington is in love with a girl which is played by Lauren Young and obviously, how will a girl marry a person who is gay? And there's another thing, there is this hidden guy who keeps on killing gays because he hates them. He believes that gays destroy our society.

So what Lauren and Remington's best friend did was they searched for the gay who cursed Remington so they can take back the curse of Remington and that is to find someone who haven't had any experience with gays and will transfer that curse to him. Unluckily, that man is Remington's father. Without any hesitations, Remington's father voluntarily stood up and said that he is so much willing to be gay so his son can have the life he wants. Also, the killer of gays was discovered and they found out that it was the friend of Remington's father who, eventually, turned out also to be gay!

This movie is not just a movie that entertains people. This movie illustrates the reality in our society. The discrimination between the different genders in our society. What a waste! right? because God made us with intellect and FREE WILL and that includes the choices that we want to make. For me, it really doesn't matter if you're a gay or a lesbian as long as you're happy then just be it! be who you are!

Which reminds of the song, "Ituloy mo lang" by Sikaol.

"At kahit na ano pa ang gusto mo

Basta wala ka bang tinatapakan na tao,
Ituloy mo lang ito!
Ang mahalaga ikaw ay masaya
'Wag mong intindihin ang sasabihin ng iba,
Sila ang may problema!"

Such a great song.

Going back, this movie also showed the Father-and-son love, which actually made me cry while watching because it showed how great a father's love to his son that he would give everything even his "manhood". Allaiza and I cried a lot in this scene.

I would like to end my review with a very striking line I got from the movie and Mart Escudero was the one who said this:

"Parati mong tatandaan na mahal na mahal kita kahit ako mismo limot ko na"

HANDS DOWN, ZOMBADINGS! ♥

ZOMBADINGS 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington (A Movie Review)

We watched the Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington in Gateway Mall, Cubao,Quezon City. This independent film was shown in mainstream for several weeks and rated ‘A’. It was directed by Jade Castro. The cast with the major roles are Martin Escudero (Remington), Lauren Young (Hannah), Kerbie Zamora (Jigs), Roderick Paulate (gay who cursed Remington), Janice de Belen (Remington’s mother), and John Regala (Remington’s father).

The setting of the film is of this modern time where homosexuality is being tolerated and criticized. Circumstances happened in the scenes are from a rural place (Lucban, Quezon).

Zombadings made me react into an individual who puts her feet inside the shoes of the characters in the story. Yes, it’s a horror-comedy film, but it also made my tears fall in the end because of the father-and-son agreement. I have never run out of gay friends and for the thought that their parents still accept them of who they are soften my heart. As I have interpreted the advocacy of this indie film, it lets us come to realize that people of the third sex, particularly of the gays, should not be discriminated, feared, hated, or even zapping them with a ray gun! :))))

The gay lingo heard from the film is very entertaining and funny but in contrast to this, I think that it is not suitable to be mentioned, most especially, the vulgar and obscene language because there is a wide reach of audience and even a child can mimic.

Remington, as a child, is very fond of teasing the gays. “Ayy… bakla, bakla, bakla!” was always his word of mouth whenever he sees one of those. When he and his mother went in a public cemetery, he encountered Roderick Paulate (a gay grieving) and so, because Remington teased him, he cursed Remington to be one of the gays after fifteen years. But before the curse would take effect, he liked a girl of his age whose name is Hannah, as portrayed by Lauren Young. From then on, the wonderful adventure of Remington already began. Symptoms of acting gay, he found out that he is having a crush on his childhood best friend, Jigs (Kerbie Zamora). By the time Remington confessed this feeling to Hannah, Jigs was there secretly at the moment and heard the revelation. Jigs had several relationships with gays so he also confessed this to Remington and they had their confrontation to the point that they were both already tempted physically to make love. Hahaha! Truly very hilarious – Awaaaard! :D

Upon solving the mysteries of the crime in their barrio, Remington found out that it was his father’s friend who zaps and kills gays with the ray gun. Remington’s mother (Janice de Belen) was the chief police officer who is assigned to solve the secrets behind the case. In the end, for Remington to break the curse, he should look for a man who doesn’t have any gay love experience! As a result, his father voluntarily devoted himself for Remington’s replacement to break the curse. And finally, he became a real man head over heels with Hannah and remained as Jigs’ best friend. :>

I can’t wait to see the next film after this. ZOMBAAAA 2! :D

Zombadings- movie review

Zombadings. What comes into your mind when you first read this word? It’s new, I know. When I first encountered this word, I knew right away that it is a combination of ZOMBIE and BADING(gay).

Zombading is a horror/comedy movie directed by Jade Castro. It is a movie about Remington (Mart Escudero) who slowly changes from man into gay after being cursed by a man at the cemetery. Remington used to make fun of the gays in their society calling them ‘bakla’ in a loud voice. As he grows up, the curse starts to work. He would wake up from strange nightmares and would find himself changing, his physical appearance, his language and his feelings. As he changes, another strange happening takes place in their town. There happens to be a mysterious killer who targets gay people.

The role of Remington was really portrayed well by Mart Escudero. He was awesome and terrific in doing his part in this movie, and so as Kerbie Zamora, Roderick Paulate, Lauren Young, Janice De Belen and Eugene Domingo. The movie for me is more of comedy rather than horror. It’s funny to look at how the lead character goes through transformation. I think Zombadings is one of the best films I’ve ever seen, for local of course. It is very creative, smart and courageous.

This movie deals about the world of people who falls under third sex. For me, the movie served as an eye opener for us people who really don’t understand the lives being lived by the third sex generation. It opened my eyes to reality and made me realize what it’s like to be in someone else’ life.
This movie taught me the value of respect and acceptance. Since it is about gays, I realized that we all should respect one another. We all have different opinions and points of view. We shouldn’t judge someone’s way of living just because it is completely the opposite way of ours. We should accept them because like us, they are just human who wanted to live their life with their own style and identity. Like us, they have feelings too. They would live out the best of their lives to express themselves and have fun.

It is really good to have witnessed a film like Zombadings. A must see for all the movie lovers!
